A Busy and Fun Week!

I'm not sure how we fit everything in this week, but we did and we had a blast!  We celebrated two birthdays, had Ms. Mai from the library come to read stories and sing songs with us, enjoyed a full morning at the park and made a "trip" to the "pumpkin patch".  Each year I love that the students don't even question how the pumpkins grew.  We spend lots of time in this pasture and there are not pumpkins or pumpkin vines, but that is the magic and blessing of preschool.  I don't know why we think things need to take so much energy and planning for children to have fun.  A field, pumpkins scattered, friends to run with, adults who love them and fresh air equals pure joy!  I love the simplicity of children.  Give them less and they find more joy.

We will begin signing in next week writing our names or simply just the first letter of our name instead of choosing our rocks.  Things will be a little more hectic for the first few weeks of this, but the more practice we get, the better.   You can practice name writing at home, but make sure it's not a chore.  Use sidewalk chalk, shaving cream on the table or in the bathtub, salt on a tray.  Get creative and have fun!  We will be focusing on a letter each day of the week beginning on Monday and our literacy curriculum does not go in alphabetical order.  We will have the letter of the day posted on our door each morning.

We follow the EAK letter learning curriculum.
