Letters, Apples, Patterns and Shadows!

Wow! What an exciting week with LOTS going on!  We started off the week with a trip to the acreage next door to pick some apples, which began lots of conversation about different kinds of apples, how apples grow, why do some apples have holes ;), how do you pick apples, etc.  It was an adventure and we can't wait to go back for more apples next week!   We used lots of the apples to make apple sauce, but unfortunately, we keep forgetting to eat it during out snack time.  Seriously, it is constant motion with this class!  ;)

We are doing a great job of learning the names of our friends and some pretty amazing friendships are already happening, which makes my heart so happy.  We also started working on letters.  Our first cycle will be learning the letters that begin each of our names.  So far, we have worked on Mm and Rr.  We practice recognizing the letter, working on the letter sound and finally writing the letter.  I was very impressed today with the ability to write an R!  Have your child show you how to make the letters that we are working on, I am sure they will be excited to practice with you.

We will continue next week with some more learning about apples and will imbed the learning into our shadow study.

I placed Scholastic orders and they should be arriving next week.  I know we have some pretty excited kiddos to get their new books.

I have contacted our classroom photographer and we are working on setting a date for class and individual pictures.  Continue to check you email for more information.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  I am more than happy to chat with you at anytime.  We are off to a great start to the year and we have our daily routine down.  I truly am so proud of this class and how much they have grown in a short amount of time.  Thank you for letting us be a part of your child's life and having the pleasure of being with them each morning, we love what we do and honestly love your children.
