Friends!

We are making so many friends at preschool and they blossom with each day and my heart explodes watching them love one another.  We teach that the most important rule at preschool is to be kind, and we are all catching on pretty quickly that I am pretty serious about treating each other with love.

Our first full week and we handled it like rockstars, minus one minor meltdown this morning.  It's amazing how quickly these kiddos can recover when their friends want to play with them.  ;)

We have started exploring shadows and have so much fun using flashlights and other sources of light.  Many of us have discovered that in order to have a shadow, we must have light.  We don't teach by telling the students the answers here, we learn by discovery and then it truly sticks.  It is fun to watch their minds wonder and explore.

We have started some practice with writing our names and using scissors  and we are all trying our best and I am very proud of their determination and focus.  If you practice name writing at home, make it fun!  You can write using a tray and shaving cream, sidewalk chalk, flour, etc.  Also, never push your child until they are frustrated.  We want to make sure that learning is fun!  Some of our hands are ready to do the work and some of us need more fine motor control and that is OKAY!  We are all perfectly made and perfectly different and most important, our God created us just that way.

Next week we will do a short study on apples, because we have an apple tree on our property and can easily pick 2-3 to take home with us.  This short study will be a good starter study to our more in depth studies about what we are completely interested in.

We will also begin our alphabet knowledge daily learning.  Please feel free to read the article in the link below to know how we teach the alphabet at preschool.

If you have any questions, please let us know.  We are beyond proud of how well our class is handling the schedule, transitions and the daily life of sharing a classroom with 19 other friends.  Wow, we are blessed.

Big Hugs!
