Really, I don't think it is possible to have more fun than we do at preschool! We have been learning so much about fall and apples, and even made some yummy applesauce, but got a bit sidetracked with the abundance of Wooly Bear Caterpillars in our outdoor learning area. The children have enjoyed watching them crawl across the grass, curl up when held and have made them homes out of empty containers. Some of these cute little caterpillars have even been relocated as they are taken home by our students. I am sure parents have loved having caterpillars riding in their cars. ;). One sweet boy even took a caterpillar home in his stocking cap. :). I LOVE preschoolers and their beautiful innocence and the gift of wonder that they have for all of God's creatures. We have learned that a Wooly Bear will turn into a Tiger Moth after they winter over and that the caterpillar has a brown middle and black on both ends. The Wooly Bear is about 1.5 inches long and there is a folklore about how they predict how harsh the winter will be by their coloring. We will continue to study these little guys next week.
Ms. Jill and Ms. Hollie are planning a little Fall field trip next door at the pond. We will be hunting for pumpkins and apples and eat a snack outside. Instead of traveling for a field trip, we are going to enjoy a nearby beautiful place. We will plan on our little trip for Thursday unless the weather does not cooperate.
Have a blessed weekend!
Remember! No school on Monday and please sign up for our Halloween party. Thanks to those who have already signed up! :)
