So, the blog has not been my priority lately and I thought I would sit down and give you a glimpse into our classroom and let you know of a few schedule changes.
We are just now ending our unit study on spiders and will take a break for the holidays, as we embed our learning into Thanksgiving and eventually Christmas! I may or may not be listening to Christmas music and starting to decorate. I am still very thankful that the farm animals are still able to graze a little and the chickens and ducks can still find an occasional insect to snack on, but I am anxious for the seasonal fun as well.
This week we are working on the letters K, L, M and N. Continue to practice at home. :)
We are starting to do more with counting and number recognition as well and hope to focus more of our small group time on some STEM activities.
Thank you for a wonderful week of healthy snacks! Our outdoor classroom will be getting a few more large round swings in the next couple weeks and we are working hard to help the students know the importance of healthy food and exercise. When our bodies are fueled with good food we have more energy for playing and learning!
NEW SCHEDULE
For the first time in years, we have noticed that pick up time is crazier than we can handle and is not how we want to end our day. We are trying a new schedule which will include switching the time we usually grow our brains and having outdoor time. When we come in from outside, we will have snack, grow our brains and have small groups. Today was a trial and we have some tweaking to do, but hoping that it works out.
We explained the schedule to the kiddos today and said that they are not in trouble at all. As teachers, it is our job that when there is a lot of misbehavior taking place, we must evaluate the why and make changes. Boys and energy are a big part of the why. ;) Really, who can blame them for wanting to run in the rocks, run up the sidewalk, be loud, etc, etc. It is part of what these kiddos are and we love them for it. We will try hard tomorrow to have a very easy pick up time and try to have more order and peace with leaving. Fingers crossed.
EYE CHECK
If you have not brought in your release from to have the LIONS club do an eye check on your child and you would like to have this done for FREE, please bring the form to school tomorrow.
I hope you are all having a blessed week.
