Algae or Allergy

Our pond study has truly been fascinating!  I can't describe in words that wonder and excitement that happens just by viewing out little aquarium ecosystem. What started out as frog spawn has turned into a zillion tadpoles, mosquito larvae-pupa-adult mosquitoes, snails, mating snails, snail eggs, dragonfly larva-pupa-adult dragonflies! Many of our new creatures come from the algae, aka, "allergy" ;)  that we gather weekly to feed our tadpoles.   Seriously, we are in amazement from all the creations that God gives us to explore and wonder over.  We also learned that mosquitoes are not just little devils...many of God's creations rely on mosquitoes to survive.  They are such an important part of nourishment for so many other creatures.  I still don't love mosquitoes, but I do have a bit more appreciation for them.  Thank goodness my ducks enjoy a diet heavy on mosquitoes in the summer!  :)

We plan on continuing our pond study.  This will be my first year not doing a chicken development study, but we are truly loving all things pond life!

We are down to the last few weeks of preschool and my heart is heavy with emotions.   It has been a great year and we have all grown so much and are ready to begin new adventures.  I will miss you all so very much! :(

Monday, May 20th will  be a water fun day in our backyard if the weather cooperates.   Children can wear swimsuits, trunks and bring water toys.  Please bring extra clothes to school.   If each student can bring a water noodle, I have some fun game ideas to play.
