Owls and More Owls!

When I explain to parents that sometimes a unit study will last a week and sometimes months, I truly mean it.  Our studies last as long as the students show interest and we still continue to learn new and interesting owl facts each day.  I recently contacted Story County Conservation and ISU rehab to have a special guest speaker.  Story County Conservation won't be able to make it this year, but I am still waiting to hear from ISU.  We will have a fun culminating activity, no matter what it takes for this teacher to do!  I am learning so much right along with the students!

We are still working on cycle 3 of our literacy block and the students are all at the point that letter sounds and writing words are so exciting to them!  I LOVE this time of year when all the playing and sneaky teaching= a love for learning!  I recently mentored a new teacher and she was so confused why the students were not excited about learning.  I said, "It's simple, love them first, have a relationship with them and provide a safe environment where asking questions is okay and it is also okay to make mistakes and they will want to learn."  I pray daily for God to lead my lessons in the classroom so that my students want to learn more, and so far, God has been faithful.  :)  It's simply beautiful to watch them blossom!  When I have lost my love for teaching and my students aren't excited, God will guide my path somewhere else, but He still wants me here, loving and learning with these precious children.  Thank you for loving them right along side of me.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION!  :(   NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Plesae remember to register your child for kindergarten on the Ballard website, as the principal would like to get an idea of numbers for next year.  If you do not plan on having your child attend Ballard, then obviously, you do not need to worry about this.

Be aware that you will soon be receiving a note home regarding vision testing.  Our principal is now requiring that we do vision testing in preschool.  Of course, if you do not want your child's vision tested, you have that right.  There will be no cost to parents.  More information coming soon.  :)
