First Week

Our first week has been full of tears, smiles and lots and lots of laughter! The first hour of our first morning was a bit scary with lots of tears, but now, we can't get these kiddos to stop smiling and laughing! We are very blessed teachers to get to love and learn with our new class of little miracles.

We have been learning a lot about making friends, our classroom routine and how to be a bucket filler and dipper. If your child has not told you about being a bucket filler, please ask them.

We love "Grow Your Brain Time", which is our solid hour of playing with friends at all the different centers and also LOVE exploring outdoors. The baby goats have even had a chance to play out for recess with us and they received A LOT of attention.

Next week we will continue learning about the classroom routine and may also do some studying about monarch caterpillars, which is our newest classroom member. Today, we took a little "fieldtrip" to the pond next door to hunt for milkweed for our new caterpillar and had a great time exploring. I am ready to let these kiddos start a unit study and get their little brains spinning. Today we already found out that we know caterpillars lay eggs, butterflies drink nectar, caterpillars make a chrysalis and they have a life cycle! Soooo fun to listen to them all share their prior knowledge before we dive into a study to do some investigative learning!

Please continue to work with your child on writing their names, as we transition into signing in each morning instead of using our magnets. I will be asking students to sign in beginning in October, so we will practice, practice, practice. If your child is frustrated and does not want to do this, please don't push them. Writing with shaving cream in the bathtub, flour in a pan, and by rolling play-doh into letters is the best way to begin. Thanks for your help!

Have an amazing weekend!

Hugs,

Ms. Hollie and Ms. Jill
