Letter O & Winter Animals

Hello!

We have had so much fun being back together this month! Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we have tried to do what was best for everyone in light of what's going on. This year has stretched and grown us all in so many ways, but the kids have been so adaptable and they are thriving with their preschool buddies (including their furry farm buddies!)

This past week we worked on the letter O and practiced the "Ahhhh" sound like in "Otter" and "pOt". You can help your child spot this letter around them and practice the sound.

We have also been studying winter animals. If you're looking for a fun activity to do with your child, you can go on a nature walk and look for animal tracks. Perfect timing with all the snow that we just got! :)

McFarland Park in Ames has a special event with spotting animal tracks coming up on January 24th. You can find more info here: http://www.storycountyiowa.gov/calendar.aspx?EID=2109

We would love for your child to keep working on writing their name. If they are struggling, here are some ideas:

  • Write their name with a yellow marker and have them trace over it
  • Use Play-doh to roll into the shapes of the letters in their name
  • Practice with magnetic letters or foam letters in the tub
  • Pour some salt in a baking tray and let them trace their name with their finger

We are trying to help students build up those writing muscles, so extra practice at home will help! There are some great tips on Seesaw about how to hold a pencil as well as many other things to practice. Please let us know if you are having trouble logging in.

If you are able to help us out, we need:

  • Hand sanitizer
  • Paper towels
Thanks again for entrusting your child to us; God has been so good to give us what we need! Give your child a squeeze from Ms. Hollie & Ms. Sam!
