Love

What a great week of loving and learning!  The friendships are truly amazing to watch and we fall deeper in love with these kiddos each day.  Truly blessed to be learning with this class!

So, we still are not falling in love with just one focus for a unit study, so we just keep learning as we go and trying to figure out the true interests of this group.  Sorry to say, but they are a bit obsessed with spiders this week, as we found one on the preschool wall and a friend brought in a HUGE rubber spider.  We will see where this leads.  I have had the dramatic play area set up with mail activities and the writing center is full of envelopes and letter writing activities, but I can't seem to grab their interest.  Hey, maybe we can write letters to the preschool spider.  :)

We have finished our first cycle of learning the letters of the alphabet, which was initial letters in all of our names.  On Tuesday, we will begin our second cycle, which is the letters in alphabetical order. So far, we are doing great with recognizing and writing our letters.  When your child comes home from school each day, remember to ask them about the letter of the day and find ways to reinforce their learning at home.  :)

We read a book this week called Leaf Man and after discussing the wind taking leaves around blowing them in the water, we went on a "field trip" to the pond to the north of our property and had a wonderful time discovering, observing,  and learning about the nature around us.  We concluded that the leaves and the acorns both floated in the pond.  We are still discussing what might not float and will do some sorting and testing next week.   We had some beautiful weather this week and we are so happy that we spent so much time outdoors.  The "pumpkin patch" was an absolute blast as well, and is always a reminder of simple joys.  Watching your children run after the best pumpkin and run wild and free through the pasture is what childhood is all about.  My cup runneth over.

REMINDERS-

We will not have preschool on Monday, October 14th due to a teacher inservice.

If you still have picture forms and would like to order, Kim is open to them coming in late.  Please  bring them on Tuesday, October 15th.  Thank you!

Our fall party is on Thursday, October 31st.  We are still looking for a parent to run a craft and game.  Parents are welcome to come to the party.  If you are signed up for a craft or game and have another child, they are welcome to attend.  We simply can't have every parent bring siblings or we might all lose our cool.  Trust me, 20 preschool kiddos dressed up and acting like they have lost their minds is enough to send you home with a headache.  Might I add the potty issues with costumes...

Enjoy your family this weekend.  I pray that you all have time to snuggle up and relax, but make sure those boys use up some energy before they come back to school on Tuesday.  ;)

Hugs,

Ms. Hollie and Ms. Jill
