Chickens!

It's still a bird, but we are diving into chickens and Ms. Hollie gets a little bit excited about this study!  We are already becoming experts and have the perfect study friends outside to observe.  We are letting our broody(you can ask your kiddos what that means) hen sit on four eggs and enjoyed candling(ask again) one of her eggs on Thursday.  We compared a fertilized and unfertilized egg and the students were pretty impressed with the comparison.  Thanks to Veda for being a good hen and letting us steal her egg.  The eggs should pip and zip this weekend if everything goes as planned.  Ask your kiddos what those words mean.  ;).
During our yoga this week, we had a little visitor try to join us.  Ask your children who tried to fly out and do yoga poses with us.  Oh my!

We also learned that not only hens lay eggs!  Lots of animals are oviparous.  We love our new word and love the song that helps us remember it.  Oh, I am seriously giddy with excitement about teaching this topic.  :)
